Achievement Unlocked! Sunday I walked a straight 10.04 kms!!! No breaks. I completed it in about 2 hours and 15 minutes. My goodness I have a long way to go! I wish I had my stuff together and started training earlier... I'm not sure if I will be able to do the FULL hike come the day in Ireland... but I am going to try my hardest and what I get done I will be proud of no matter what. It's a lot more than what I was doing this time last year.
My method on Sunday was to just keep walking until I reached 5kms away, then turn around on the spot and follow the exact same route back home. So far this is my favourite route from leaving my house. I walk down the old train tracks until I hit Division. I then walk down Division to that entrance to the Grove. I like going this way and passing a farm house. This time the horses were out and the free range chickens were grazing in the yard. It gives me a sense of tranquility seeing that setting so close into town. Then I walk down until I meet the main path in the Grove and continue walking down it until the entrance at Ottawa Street. I then take a path to my left and make my way up the field into Galilee and down into Robert Simpson Park. I followed the path along the river going all the way under the Madawaska bridge and up Daniel. I turned left down Rock lane and continued up to McGonigal St. That was 5km! I turned on the spot and followed my route right back to my front door.
That evening I took to 'Part 2' (McNab/Braeside Trail) again with my mother and Sneakers. So many Goldfinches!!! I know it says to keep your dog on a leash but I regret to say I let Sneakers off leash here. He's so small and he doesn't stray far and the grass is too tall for him to go off the path. From his viewpoint, it's just tall grasses and wild flowers. Had a lovely walk with mom. It's nice to walk and talk without judgement. They were great company for 4kms!
Wednesday I walked to a new Starbucks with some co-workers then went into the forest onto the bike paths on my own during lunch. Thursday night was really hard to complete. My right leg took a beating and the last 2 km's felt like they lasted forever. I walked to a wonderful person's house who got 2 tickets to my paint party at Krave, and then got onto my usual path along the river back home. It was humid and hot and very slow....
Friday, In the evening I took to my mom's and a neighbours to grab some things they graciously donated for my garage sale Saturday morning... but... I woke and it was raining!
- 12th week of no smoking! It's been 3 months and 2 weeks! Whoah... at 6 months it will be my birthday and I'm doing something to pamper and congratulate myself! I have to come up with ideas :)
- I need $1,258 more to go for Fundraising, but I am 83% of the way there! $6,242 out of $7,500! Only $259 more to go to get under a thousand left!!!!!!!!!
