It's getting harder and harder to get my vacation blogs out, even though I only have 3 days left. Not because of time or lack of interest, it's just hard to go back because I miss it so much. I miss Ireland incredibly, like a heart ache. I definitely want to go back to Ireland in this lifetime. To date my favourite day was our first full day at the Castle and our walk through Dun A Ri Forest. All of the days were great but today was a very close second runner up. Today started off checking out the Book of Kells at Trinity College. Which was so conveniently located practically next door to our hotel.
This was a neat tour. We started off climbing up more stairs up to a level that was just like a museum. Different scenes and decoration to bring us back to that period of time which was being explained. We learned the origins of whiskey, and the effects it had medicinally and... none medicinally. Nearer, coming to a close to the of the museum tour we were brought into a beautifully wood paneled room resembling a sophisticated pub and once the tour ended brought up another set of stairs into a golden lit room, where we did our tasting.
Around the corner and down the street a bit from our hotel was the location for our dinner with the Team Diabetes Group; The Alex. We were set up a buffet dinner and were able to seat and help ourselves. There were some opening remarks and all the runners were jazzed for the next day. I really wish there was a little more talk about the hike as I was sooooooo nervous. Literally a year of fundraising and training and I still didn't feel ready. My health isn't the greatest and I thought my doing this it would keep me on track. Walking, yes... but my eating habits are still poor. I was so nervous for tomorrow and even though I needed to get some sleep, Sarah and I hopped over the to the Ginger Man for a pint to try and help me settle my nerves.
We sat in between 2 Halloween get-togethers and enjoyed some of the local craft brews. Then we headed back to the hotel where I tried to get some shut eye. I can't believe tomorrow is hike day. Everything is leading up to this point and I hope I can make the middle tier level. Wish me luck!
Overall (at the time of Day8 of the trip):
- Tomorrow is my hike with Team Diabetes at Wicklow Mountain !!!!!!
- I want a library like the long room at Trinity College in my house!
Overall (at time of posting)
- I'm less than a month away from being a year smoke free!
- I'm having some health concerns, which I am trying to address, as well as coming up with my next artistic endeavor (I have too many ideas - gotta focus on one at a time)… like finishing this blog!
Thanks for checking in!
