I'm so lucky to have some really great people in my life, and could not be happier for Jennifer. Her continued support and confidence in my photography is just amazing. She has always been up for a photoshoot if I have some fun idea, whether it be a simple portrait session, or creating some magical looking images while wearing her wedding dress, or just simply being around her animals. I always leave her place feeling happy and rejuvenated! What a perfect place and family for a child to grow. Jenn is expecting in September and I cannot wait to meet my new little model! So, with camera in hand on a very chilly Sunday I made my way to her place. Armed with baby cowboy boots and a rocking horse we took some fun images to help her announce her pregnancy. Check out some of the results.
My Photography Sessions are low key and extremely versatile. Just send me a message, and we can brainstorm and talk about your Photography needs. All proceeds will go to Diabetes Canada, and Team Diabetes. Take a look at the contracts I have available HERE. I am getting so close to my fundraising goals I can taste it. I'd love to get this part done with so I don't have to worry about it anymore and then focus on my physical goals... which I must admit I'm somewhat discouraged. I know finishing fundraising is just the motivation and kick in the pants I need!
This wooded area in my hometown has a special place in my heart.
This walk inspired me for one of my Sketchbook Journal/Diary Entries. I love having the Grove almost outside my door. The White Pines are my favourite; it's just too bad to see the damage over the years due to ice storms and other weather. It seems like the old growth is more sparse and the new growth is taking over. Regardless, it is a wonderful place to walk through. Check out my quick little video I made - forgive the editing/video quality. I'm really only familiar with Photography but would love to play around with video a little more. I'm looking forward to documenting my hikes this year and will be working towards creating more videos.
There are so many applications to each photography package I provide.
For Package 1, why not purchase one as a gift for someone else? You can use this package for getting updated images of your child. This package is also perfectly priced for an updated 'headshot' for your professional occupation. Or perhaps you need some images taken of your house that is going up for sale?

Because of those generous individuals who have donated, I am 50% done my Fundraising Goal.
This has been an amazing adventure, and I have met some pretty phenomenal people.
I cannot express my gratitude enough to those who have supported me in this cause, and I will not lie, I struggle. I struggle BIG TIME with anxiety and stress. At the beginning of this journey, that $7500 goal scared the jelly beans out of me. I lost much sleep over worrying of how to fundraise, as I am one of the most introverted people I know. I also struggle everyday with Type 2 Diabetes. I sometimes forget to take my Metformin and to make the healthier choices (especially over the holidays). But every day is a new day, and I need to look ahead – not in the past.
I encourage the Facebook Followers of “Colleen Hikes For Diabetes - Ireland” to share this page with your friends and family as I have a lot of fun ideas for Fundraising in 2018, and I’m sure they wouldn’t want to miss out!

Holmes & Brakel will be donating to Team Diabetes in lieu of sending out Christmas Cards to clients this year for the holidays. I worked with my employer to create the following email mailer to send out to our clients. Thanks to Kristin from Holmes & Brakel for providing me this opportunity. It will make a huge difference in my fundraising. Thank you!
I published my first book!
I keep a sketchbook journal for my own personal use. (See an earlier post for some of the pages) When thinking of Fundraising Ideas for Team Diabetes, I thought... hmm... wonder if I could print a sketchbook to sell? I wanted to have something that anyone could use. A Calendar Journal! These are original drawings left uncolored for those who purchase to add their own flare to this book. Each month has 4 pages - definitely not an intimidating book that you have to put an entry into everyday. I've had a lot of fun colouring my own copy and am looking forward to using it in the New Year!
50% of each book sale of 'hello 2018' will be donated to Diabetes Canada and my Team Diabetes Pledge Page. Please, Feel free to take a virtual 'flip-through' on the first few pages on the Blurb Bookstore: http://www.blurb.ca/b/8328775-hello-2018
I didn't though. The people I went with definitely wouldn't of let me. They were great cheerleaders, but I definitely felt like the runner who finishes last at the end of the race... but most importantly, I finished. This hiking path, I believe, will be my main training. I have a feeling I will be knowing this hiking path like the back of my hand come next Fall. It's ascent is close to the 2nd hiking option with Team Diabetes in Ireland at Wicklow. This path in Calabogie starts with a pretty easy ascent (as it was the first one) to Eagles Nest. What an amazing view. You feel like you are on top of the world. We then continued onto Manitou Trail all the way up to Sky Walk. Which brought us to even more amazing views. Now I felt extremely sore, sweaty and tired.
I'm looking forward to tackling this one again, and maybe bring my good camera (left it at home this first time around as I didn't know what to expect with this being the greatest distance I have ever done in one go.) Have you ever hiked this area? Tell me of your stories! The next day, I drove back up this way to show my mom and sister where I hiked and we saw 2 male Bald Eagles and 1 big female. It was amazing!
Thanks for checking into my blog!
Have a great day, and I'm looking forward to my next blog entry which will be when I receive my copy of the Calendar Journal for Fundraising! I cannot wait to flip through the pages and hold a book that I created.
I love these sessions with Jennifer. Besides being my favourite Hair Dresser, Jenn's Hair Studio (Here is a link to her Facebook Page.) but she's a great sport and willing to risk her neck climbing trees and falling down icy paths just to get the shot. I always have a great time at her place for Photography sessions and what better time than with this season's first snowfall! Waking up and looking outside - it was so pretty. The wind was a bit chilly but it was worth it. I had a lot of laughs watching her Great Dane run around and around and around. And her mini's are just way too cute. Here are a few of my Favourite from today, and feel free to check my Photography Page on Facebook ( www.facebook.com/ColleenDontignyPhotography/ ) for more images I have taken from previous sessions. Thanks Jenn! Hope you enjoy these!
After the Zombie Make-Up Event, I decided to take some time off of Fundraising. My anxiety had reached a peak and I had gotten sick with a cold. I decided to pick up my journal sketchbook to do a new entry. Since I was in grade school I had always loved to sketch. I would keep sketch-books, but get discouraged and then stop, or want to start a new book. I've never filled a sketchbook yet, but intend to with this one. I am only 10 pages away from completion. But, old habits die hard and a thought came to me... maybe I can do something like this to sell for Fundraising? So I am currently entrenched in yet another sketchbook, but this one I have to finish. I have a deadline and now that the Photography season seems to have slowed down a bit, and the rain just won't stop on the weekends, it seems I would have time. I plan to have this 'book' be 48 pages long... maybe round up to 50. I also am planning on sticking to line drawings with simple shading so it can be a colour book as well. In the meantime, I'd like to share some of the pages of my own personal sketch-book. (Please note, that I have blurred out any text that I would like to keep personal, as this is my diary as well.)
(I've been mulling over the idea of a Paint Night too - but it requires a minimum amount of ticket sales - so I would have to insure that I would have enough ticket purchasers before I commit - I'd also only have 2 weeks to sell the tickets.... we shall see)
Do you keep a journal? Or a sketchbook? Do you follow any artists on YouTube? I've been following an amazing artist named Minnie Small for the last couple weeks. Tell me what you like to write about or sketch in your journals.
Thanks for checking in!
In the quiet little town of Arnprior, on a Sunday afternoon... no one would of suspected; here. Right now. The Zombie Apocolypse!!!! Armed with Zombie kits in hand; 6 humans willingly transformed into attacked versions of themselves. All in the name of raising funds for Team Diabetes, this fundraising event was a unique "Paint-Your-Face" tutorial.
Thank you to those who attended!
(You know who you are)
You are all so incredibly generous and talented!
A huge Thank You to "The Flying Turtle Club" for donating their shop & help for the day.
